What is Level 5 Drywall Finishing?
and why is it important?
Level 5 finish is recommended for areas that are to receive gloss, semi-gloss, enamel or non-textured flat paints. Level 5 requires all the procedures in Level 4 and a thin skim coat of a material manufactured especially to achieve level 5 drywall surface is applied to the entire surface. The surface should be smooth and free from marks and bumps.
The Level 5 finish is required to achieve the highest degree of quality by providing a uniform surface and minimizing the possibility of joints or fasteners showing in the final application of paint or other wall covering.
